Meeting Handy Manny

We went to Disney Land almost three years ago and I’m finally getting around to scrapping some pictures. Its been in my queue for a long time as are many other things. Having purchased some of the Say Cheese line from Simple Scrappers helped make scrapping Disney a whole lot easier. I like this line because I can also scrap some of our movie pics as well.

I decided to scrap my  youngest two and their meeting Handy Manny. My youngest wasn’t all that keen on meeting him him at first but warmed up to the idea. I was going to go for a multi photo LO but it just didn’t work out and sometimes things tend to go their own way while scrapping.

I turned on my cameo for part of the title which I think it needed. I also felt I needed a little something on the back ground. So I used a star stencil and gesso with some glitter on top. I think its a nice touch that brings in more of the magic of the moment.

I added stars on several parts of the background to make it all seem more balanced to my eye. A few stickers and a bit of thread was all that was needed to complete this LO to where I was happy. I have several more photos to go about Disney my queue is big  as I’m sure yours is too 🙂

Build a background

Having been a digi girl I do love to play with digital templates. It really can get me to scrap what I normally wouldn’t, scrap quickly, and get my out of a scrapping rut. When I saw Cheryl’s (Fiddle Dee Dee Designs ) Build a background template I knew I had to play with them. Hey I have a cameo and it needs a work out and with this LO it certainly did.

Being as I was going to be using paper I had to adjust the template a bit for cutting. It was quite simple in CS making the bkg join so that I could cut it out as one piece. I don’t have a level eye so trying to put each strip with equal spacing would have been a huge task for me.

I was also so indecisive trying to figure out what colors to use that flowed together. I started bright and colorful with a white solid bkg but that did not work out at all. But when I finally decided on a color start than it got a whole lot easier after that.

And this finished LO really makes me happy. I did start off with working up like the template. But I’m not an overly flower girl, especially when making paper LOs so I headed down with a cork map I had from a studio calico kit (it was over the summer of 2015). Let me tell you figuring out some of those maps wasn’t easy . Turned the right way this piece looks like a cow.

I then decided on the title based on the word strip, I love when it all flows together. Again I gave my cameo a work out and cut the title on blue paper in this SC kit that I knew I would never use and it all came together.

A few black stars and gold hearts were some little touches I decided on. With this bkg I don’t think I needed too much in the way of elements. So if you haven’t given digi templates a try for your paper pages you really should.

Cuddles with a sketch challenge

So I had to play along with Paper Issues FB group Sketch challenge. This sketch was based on Kim Watson’s page and I just love her gallery and her designs. I saw this sketch and knew I had to play along I did change it up a bit but that is what sketches are for. They are starting points it is up to the scrapper to make them their own.  So if you want to have some fun with some great challenges join the group at Paper Issues they really are fun.

I love cuddling with my boy at night as he falls asleep. We are co sleepers, not particularly by choice but starting out with twins we had to divide and conquer to get any sleep. Since then I’ve always had a kid, or two, or three in my bed. I don’t mind they eventually leave and sleep on their own so I enjoy the moment while its there.

I put my cameo and my sewing machine to use today. I really do need to play with my cameo more and that will be one of several things I commit to in 2016. It can be so much fun after all, especially with titles.

My large format printer doesn’t want to feed paper anymore. I do need to get that fixed because it makes it so much easier for journaling, when you are like me and hate your hand writing. But with the smaller cuts of paper I was able to journal in PS and than print it off. A few small touches and there I have a great page, with fun colors, that I’m happy to show off.

So go ahead join the challenge you’ll end up with a great page for your album too.

Monochrome-ish

For the start of this LO I really wanted to use these new wood grain papers I picked up from Scrapbook.com. There are a number in the new collection by Ella and Viv and not having gotten paper from this manufacturer before I knew I had to have most if not all of this line.

I coupled this new paper with an old line, Mister Fox by Kaiser Craft that has been sitting in my stash for far too long. Honestly I forgot about an entire order I got from ACOT some time ago. But I’m using all I found now so thats what matters. I than had to grab and use some of my Color Cast Designs goodies I’m such a fan and if you haven’t checked her store out you must!

I didn’t intend to go for such a monocrome-ish LO just simple touches of color with all the black/white was perfect though. I did try to add in more color at one point and it simply wasn’t working. My daughter, forever the critic, wasn’t pleased with my attempts either so it wasn’t just me.

Right-now

A simple cluster was all I think this LO needed. I did struggle with the journaling and where to put it but this worked out the best. I love the big words by Color Cast Designs, told you must try them, and it worked out so well here. Simple but perfect to me.

I have a whole stash of wood grain papers now and I’m so loving them. My plan is to get busy and use them all along with way too much other stash I have in my craft room.
