Showered With Love (link & win)

I’m trying to do more challenges I feel like it helps me because I’m the slowest scrapper in the world. Honestly I should win an award. This LO I started on Tuesday and here it is Friday and I’m finally done. Ok having a day with no electricity didn’t help the process this time around. I do like the Paper Issue challenges because they are clear, easy to find, and there’s a prize! This LO is for their link and win for month of February if you haven’t joined.. well get busy like me 🙂

The theme is Shower With Love and there is no one more showered with love then this little boy! Gosh he makes my heart smile every time I look at him. Spoiled.. yup and his mama has no problem with doing it 🙂

This is a design I so need help with because I have no ability to make these types of images for a cut Cheryl of Fiddle Dee Dee Designs to the rescue. I love me some Cheryl I saw these templates and KNEW I had to use one (or all because they are awesome) for this challenge.

I’ve been totally loving this look lately so was so happy to have an easy file to use and gave my cameo a work out. I decided to not put all the pieces under my heart because 1. I struggled to get everything aligned 2. I think it looked much nicer using the pieces outside of the heart. I think its a great flow with the pieces and the splatter.

This is the 3rd challenge I got done for Paper Issues I actually got messy the other week with their Mixed Media Monday challenge for February and I love love love how it turned out.

This was just so much fun, I used scraps, bits and bobs I had laying around, papers that I had in my stash and I think it just all came together so well. I do love getting messy and really need to do it more especially with black gesso!! My world is complete with black gesso, yes Im easy to please when it comes to my scrapping. I did get another page done with black gesso that I love love love as well.

Simple and very little color..and LOVE Again using my stash I wanted to use this photograph word for so long finally I got around to it. See theres a reason for my small hoard..I have plans for it all. But since I’m the slowest scrapper it may take me a while.

Im a Simple Scrapper

I do love being on the Simple Scrapper DT team because it means I’m getting LOs done that maybe I normally wouldn’t have. While I do love working with digital templates it is the journal prompts that sometimes push me in a direction I wouldn’t go. But for this upcoming month I’ve been pushed both ways, with design and theme.

This first one pushed with me with a journaling prompt about the 80s. This is ME in the 80s and I wouldn’t have been pushed to scrap this picture that my childhood friend sent me a couple of years ago. Its me at 15 with my full attitude in display but what 15 yr old doesn’t have attitude. Thinner, bigger hair, but I still dress the same jeans and a t-shirt with some flats is my favorite wear.

For the 80s theme I thought what fun would it be to use many words to display the 80s from shows, to performers to phrases. I didn’t want it to be all one color and slightly get lost in the LO so using two colors seemed to work best for me. I did edit the picture of this LO for public forums the unedited sits in my album 🙂

For this template it was a great way to show off very simply, my youngest sons achievements. Having a young one with Down Syndrome I’ve really taken stock in the big things that come with smaller steps. It may not seem like a huge deal that he wants to make his hot dogs, but it totally is for us. With the template I was able to add the journaling and print it out and than place very simple touches that the template called for. The big title was fun something I don’t normally do.

I’m very pleased with both of this LOs and I’m glad I’m stepping out of my comfort zone and being pushed to create things I normally wouldn’t. If you want a push do check out Simple Scrapper

The Month of Hearts

The theme of February is hearts, love, hugs and kisses the month of red. So its fitting that I would start it off with an wonderful heart filled template by Fiddle Dee Dee Designs.

Isnt that lovely?? And Cheryl as awesome as she is makes templates in both a dressed down, a bit more clean, and dressed up, a bit more Cheryls style of scrapping. So if you haven’t checked her out you should.

It is really easy to use digital templates for paper LOs and I keep saying this I know 🙂 I do use Make The Cut program, I find their import and trace to cut feature a whole lot user friendlier than Silhouette Studio. I did have to do some tweaking to this template.

With the main bkg paper with heart cut outs it was a bit of trouble to get the programs to correctly realize what I wanted to cut. Both in Silhouette studio and MTC so it was much easier for me to change some colors in photoshop before I imported (again I use MTC for this but I’ll show it in studio)

My first step was to import the png file for the heart bkg. Cheryl includes pngs in all her template so it is much easier to import, select, and cut in any cut software. But with this file when I imported it didn’t recognize I wanted to just cut the hearts so begins my tweeks. I first selected the layer ctrl-left click layer I then get the dancing ants and I can fill with the paint a solid white color.

Step 2 is to inverse the selection so only my hearts are now selected not the whole 12×12 page which is what caused me issues to cut to begin with.

Step 3 with the selection of the hearts alone I then fill with a solid color, red seems fitting.

Then when I import it is much easier for silhouette to understand what I’m selecting and not have multiple cut lines. That is more frustrating than anything and its much easier to recolor in this way before making a selection. MTC has similar issues as it wants to cut a line around my entire page when I import my selection.

I did the same thing with the heart doily I simply selected and recolored then when I imported it was much easier for MTC to determine what should be cut.

The cut after that was super easy and can I love on my Cameo for making this so very easy. I just poked some holes loose as I binged watch my show while scrapping. And my end result

I love.. like really love. I did make the picture a bit bigger for my LO ( I do those changes in photoshop) and after adding some bits I was so pleased. Double points being able to enter this in a Paper Issues challenge as well as a challenge. I feel totally accomplished and I’m so happy to have this one added to my album.
