Pinspire Mood Board: Dreaming

When I saw this months Mood board for Paper Issues I knew I had to do it. The yellows just called to me as a must to create with. I just love that about the mood board each month there is just so much you can be inspired by. And this month it was all about the color. Bright yellow can’t go wrong and don’t think I did.

Dreaming

I found boxes of flowers on sale at Micheals and the yellow set was a must for this LO. I used Shimmerz dazzlerz “Lemon Drop” with a Um Wow stencil. I just love this vibrant color as the backdrop to this picture. With that I didn’t add a lot of paper but I don’t think I needed it. I added some stashed bits, straws, old paper I had in my stash and some bits from the Pink Fresh Dream On collection. I do love how this came out and I hope it inspires you some as well.

April Issue:Drive

I have no idea how we got to April already I feel like this year just started. But with a new month comes a new issue and it’s all about driving for me. When I saw this month’s theme I knew only one thing metal was going on my page. I had some metal alphas on my stash that have been waiting a number of years and out of hiding they came

I used Shimelle’s Go Now Go collection that I had in my stash that was perfect for this theme. And an awesome driving pic my daughter  (the passenger) took a few weeks back. I just love when things come together.

Product Spotlight: Love

Another week of showing off some awesome scrapbook product at Paper Issues. And this week it is all about Heidi Swapp’s Magnolia collection. I’ll be totally honest here I was not going to get this collection. We all have collections that we say to ourselves OH THIS IS ME and others that are like ITS PRETTY BUT NOT FOR ME. That is how I felt about this line. But then it was chosen for a product spotlight and there I was with it in my cart. And I’m glad I went for it.

The colors are so pretty, the blacks and pinks I’m totally digging that. And the ephemera has some great little bits, word strips, touches of gold and cardboard! The acetate words are great and I’ll be grabbing them for some time to come. So if you have been on the fence for this collection I kid you not when I say go for it.

I made this page quickly and I’m not a fast scrapper. I started with the 3×3 Love card and all the other ephemera then I added the photo and other layered paper. Easy peasy it was all done and I like it!

Take Five: Fine Little Day

It has been a while since I’ve finished a Take Five challenge, it has always been one of my favorite challenges and this month is no exception. Its always fun to dig in my stash to find things that work, or use a collection that totally works on its own. This month I used Dear Lizzy’s new line and it was the perfect fit.

I did use a digital template from Simple Scrapper which was a load of fun. All these little 2.5 squares were a great way to fill the page and I printed out some journaling on white card stock. The added stitching was fun and I think it added that little something needed to this page.

So join in this months Take 5 challenge and have some fun. Remember if you need to go shopping use my code and save 20% off our order

March Sketch: Full Bloom

Its another new sketch at Paper Issues and this is not something I usually do. Many would think well I do digital templates to a sketch should be easy for me, but it isn’t. I don’t know what gives me a mental block of with sketches but I’m hoping I pulled it off this time.

sketch

So this is the sketch and I kind of worked off the three photos there and the lower right title. What I first had planned didn’t work out so well so I had to be flexible 🙂 When I got to the finishing line I just felt that my LO lacked balance and needed to put something above the photos so I went with some more 3×4 cuts of paper. I think that works out much better then leaving it bare.

in-bloom

Bit of a cloudy day here to photograph but this is it. I used the Pebbles Tealightful collection that is in the shop. I am a tea lover so had to get it and somehow I went nature. Sometimes you need to follow the creative lead.

Lets Play Post Office: EO

With this new Issue its all about the Post Office and what we love to get in the mail. I, like most people, love to get a package in the mail. I have my love for Cassie mail of course and random goodies from Amazon but I also have a love for essential oils. I found a really good supplier with Edens Garden and love when I get a refill of the oils I love and new oils that never left me down.

So for this Issue I decided to scrap my love of EO goodies that I got last month. I used Crate Papers Cute Girl because the colors were just calling me for this photo. This line even had a lemon card, which is one of my favorite scents. And I had a lemon straw from one of the swag bags in my stash. It all worked perfectly!

So have some fun this month and join the challenge and show off what you love to get in the mail 🙂 If you need to go shopping use my code for 20% off your total order

Live Your Dreams

I have committed myself to trying some new things this year, one of which was starting to do process videos. Well lets just say my first process video will never see the light of day. I have learned something though, make sure its in focus. I have a few more kinks to work out of that whole commitment but eventually I will get it right.

I was having a blah creative day and decided a way to get out of it was to get messy. This always works for me everyone has what works for them but when I get messy I don’t feel as constrained and more often then not I’m able to laugh at myself and enjoy the entire process. I dug in my stash which is something I want to do more of this year and worked with some Prima and some bits from an old Flying Unicorn kit. Unfortunately the owner of Flying Unicorn passed away last month so there will be no more kits from that business. I will be on the hunt for something similar when I want to get messy.

Since my video didn’t work out for me I’m going to share some close ups of this page. I will link some of the products I used below as well. Hopefully in the future I’ll master videos because it is a lot of fun and I won’t feel like I’m talking to myself.

I started with a Prima template and some white gesso. I usually use strong colors when I’m scrapping but I believe this warranted for a more softer look. I did add some shimmerz Inklingz to this layout but id doesn’t photograph all that well. I used wire to make those little blue twirl pieces and metal pieces that I found in my Flying Unicorn stash.

The Shimmerz shoes up a bit better here as well as the ribbon I folded and used underneath the doily. It is something I have had in my stash for well over 10 years and I love the depth it gives to this layout. This was quite quick to come along as soon as I knew what direction I was going and its making me feel much more creative now even if my process video didn’t go as planned.

Mix It Up: I-Phone

I love the Mix It Up Monday challenge last month I couldn’t catch a break to join but this month I’m all in. Gesso and Acrylic my two favorites. I love working with acrylics with the large color range, they are more affordable and really easy to obtain. There are many uses for acrylic and this time I decided to thin it down with a bit of water and use it on my bkg.

First I used white gesso to not just prep my area for paint but also to add some bkg color blocking for my bight acrylic color. I watered the acrylic until it was a consistency I liked. I used a circle stencil to splosh some of the acrylic and then just made a splash of mess 🙂 I had fun and I think it came out rather well and the color was perfect.

I used the Bella Blvd Addison collection I love the pops of color in this line. And remember if you need to go shopping, or just want to 🙂 use my code for 20% off your order.

January Issues Stash Busters: Freeze

New Year and a new Issues over at Paper Issues and its all about a look back into your stash. And I really had a look back in my stash which is quite overwhelming at times. I opened a container that I had for years and dug out a Basic Grey collection! I know they don’t even do scrapbook supplies anymore. I opened the Oliver collection which at the time I thought was so stinking cute but never ended up using, until now. And it screamed out for some mixed media work so I got messy!!

freeze

You can tell I had fun here. I bought this collection because it was boy and I buy anything boy. And because the cute little felt pieces were just so stinking cute. Whatever I had planned for it didn’t happen but I’m so glad I finally opened it and did something. I even used the rub ons..yes some of those blotches are rub ons how cool is that!

So go on ladies.. dig deep this new year and start out using things you forgot you had 🙂 I went all the way back to a 2010 collection see if you can beat that!!!

Another scrapping year down

Gosh this year went fast but I tend to say that everywhere. Days merge in to each other and bam! the year is gone. But we scrapping peeps have a chance to look back on all our pages and reflect. Memories made, skills learned, pages we love and are proud of and set some goals for next year. This is a few of my favorite pages sure was a fun creative year. Some of them I have never even shared here on my blog. Maybe I’ll make this blog a priority in 2017 🙂
