Live Your Dreams

I have committed myself to trying some new things this year, one of which was starting to do process videos. Well lets just say my first process video will never see the light of day. I have learned something though, make sure its in focus. I have a few more kinks to work out of that whole commitment but eventually I will get it right.

I was having a blah creative day and decided a way to get out of it was to get messy. This always works for me everyone has what works for them but when I get messy I don’t feel as constrained and more often then not I’m able to laugh at myself and enjoy the entire process. I dug in my stash which is something I want to do more of this year and worked with some Prima and some bits from an old Flying Unicorn kit. Unfortunately the owner of Flying Unicorn passed away last month so there will be no more kits from that business. I will be on the hunt for something similar when I want to get messy.

Since my video didn’t work out for me I’m going to share some close ups of this page. I will link some of the products I used below as well. Hopefully in the future I’ll master videos because it is a lot of fun and I won’t feel like I’m talking to myself.

I started with a Prima template and some white gesso. I usually use strong colors when I’m scrapping but I believe this warranted for a more softer look. I did add some shimmerz Inklingz to this layout but id doesn’t photograph all that well. I used wire to make those little blue twirl pieces and metal pieces that I found in my Flying Unicorn stash.

The Shimmerz shoes up a bit better here as well as the ribbon I folded and used underneath the doily. It is something I have had in my stash for well over 10 years and I love the depth it gives to this layout. This was quite quick to come along as soon as I knew what direction I was going and its making me feel much more creative now even if my process video didn’t go as planned.

Mix It Up: I-Phone

I love the Mix It Up Monday challenge last month I couldn’t catch a break to join but this month I’m all in. Gesso and Acrylic my two favorites. I love working with acrylics with the large color range, they are more affordable and really easy to obtain. There are many uses for acrylic and this time I decided to thin it down with a bit of water and use it on my bkg.

First I used white gesso to not just prep my area for paint but also to add some bkg color blocking for my bight acrylic color. I watered the acrylic until it was a consistency I liked. I used a circle stencil to splosh some of the acrylic and then just made a splash of mess 🙂 I had fun and I think it came out rather well and the color was perfect.

I used the Bella Blvd Addison collection I love the pops of color in this line. And remember if you need to go shopping, or just want to 🙂 use my code for 20% off your order.

January Issues Stash Busters: Freeze

New Year and a new Issues over at Paper Issues and its all about a look back into your stash. And I really had a look back in my stash which is quite overwhelming at times. I opened a container that I had for years and dug out a Basic Grey collection! I know they don’t even do scrapbook supplies anymore. I opened the Oliver collection which at the time I thought was so stinking cute but never ended up using, until now. And it screamed out for some mixed media work so I got messy!!

You can tell I had fun here. I bought this collection because it was boy and I buy anything boy. And because the cute little felt pieces were just so stinking cute. Whatever I had planned for it didn’t happen but I’m so glad I finally opened it and did something. I even used the rub ons..yes some of those blotches are rub ons how cool is that!

So go on ladies.. dig deep this new year and start out using things you forgot you had 🙂 I went all the way back to a 2010 collection see if you can beat that!!!
